Robots Softball

The rain apparently drenched most of the eastern seaboard just happened to miss McCarren Park, as there was not a drop of it to disrupt our games. We took advantage of this game by routing the Soft Spot Specials by a score of 23-8.

There were too many contributions to name, but among other things, it marked the return of Luis, who had a solid game at the plate. Bryan in the outfield made some remarkable catches which really kept us in the game. Also, thanks to Jessica for taking both sides of the Robots battery.

The win improves our record to 8-3, and because Red Star lost, we took sole possession of second place. Way to go, ‘bots!

Games will go on as scheduled. Please remember to bring three one-dollar bills.

We can expect some rain and thunderstorms  that could likely last for hours, and maybe even throughout the day. This could impact today’s 4pm game vs. the Soft Spot Specials on Field 2.

Your manager will inform everyone by 2pm, via email and SMS, whether our game will be postponed due to rain. Generally speaking, we only cancel the games if it’s actually raining during the game or if the fields are flooded.

We avenged our opening day loss trouncing the K&M Swingers by a score of 19-11.

Johnny and Petemo were key with five  hits in the game. Brandon hit another home run that nearly reached Driggs (again!) and call-up player Juan Martinez hit a grand slam in the ninth that all but iced our victory against a very potent team. Pilar also came up huge with three key hits that ignited our offense.

Players should have received an email containing the box score and a copy of the score sheet.

Our next game is on Saturday, June 26, at 6pm, against the undefeated Papacito’s All Stars.

Or was it 12-7? Either way, I heard that we played great defense. Good work everyone.

Next week, there’s no game but there will be a pickup game on Saturday, May 22, time TBD.

Yes folks, we have a game this Saturday, at 4:00 PM on Field 2, versus the ever bothersome Archive Bears.

Your manager will be out of town this weekend so it’s up to you all to fight the bears attack and put them in a hybernative state.

This weekend the Gibson Robots (0-3) take on the Soft Spot Specials (2-1) at 6:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, on Field 1.

The game is going to be a testing ground for the Robots, as the temperature will be in the 80° degree range. Also, it’s May Day and Derby Day. Let’s go, Robots!
